Makers Gym

Frisco, TX

Project Type

Co-Working Space Prototype

Square Footage

14,000

Sector

Professional Service, Entertainment

Makers Gym gives independent creatives access to professional tools, specialized studios, and a community they would struggle to assemble alone. Across 14,000 square feet in downtown Frisco, IA adapted an existing two-story floorplate into a prototype where production capability and informal exchange can redirect ideas, careers, and collaboration.

Specialized Tools Build Community
A soundstage, production space, photography studio, podcast and recording rooms, and editing suites give members access to high-performance environments without requiring each person to own them. IA adapted the existing floorplate to meet acoustic, lighting, equipment, and operational needs while keeping specialized facilities connected to the shared life of the building. The visual concept of refraction reinforces that purpose. Angled grillwork defines the central stair, a floating chandelier traces a lens curve, and patterned glass, partitions, and linear LEDs carry a consistent sense of motion. Technical capability and spatial identity work together to make professional production resources feel accessible rather than isolated.

Creative Exchange Extends the Program
Conference rooms honor figures including Lauryn Hill and Karl Lagerfeld, while a mural by JC.Ro brings in a local voice. Lounges and shared amenities help members meet people outside their disciplines and exchange knowledge as naturally as equipment. Wi-Fi, coffee, tap beer, and snacks support an easy daily rhythm, placing informal work and conversation beside high-performance studios. Makers Gym’s value extends beyond access to tools. An editor may meet a photographer, a producer may find a collaborator, or an idea may change direction through another perspective. The prototype turns independent work into a broader creative ecosystem built around capability, visibility, and community.
