Home Chef’s Chicago headquarters brings three offices together around the activity that defines its culture: making and sharing food. Within the restored Old Post Office, IA paired familiar domestic settings with an active commercial kitchen, giving culinary, creative, and business teams a connected workplace that supports growth without losing belonging.

Familiar Rooms Unite the Teams
The design takes the “home” in Home Chef seriously, organizing departments as distinct but connected rooms. Reception recalls a front porch, while work settings draw from living rooms, studies, dining rooms, and backyards. Each has its own character, furniture, and material mix, giving teams identity within a larger organization. Historic details from the Old Post Office remain visible, grounding the company’s next chapter in the building’s past. These recognizable settings make the workplace personal and approachable, helping employees from three former offices build a shared culture without erasing team differences. Domestic familiarity becomes an organizational tool for making consolidation feel welcoming rather than imposed.

Food Connects Product and Culture
Every path leads to The Workshop, a commercial kitchen where chefs develop recipes and employees help test them. Its central position keeps Home Chef’s product, process, and purpose visible throughout the day. Food is continually prepared and shared, turning specialized infrastructure into a cultural gathering place. Culinary, creative, and business departments connect directly to this core, supporting faster exchange across the development process. The headquarters balances the technical demands of recipe creation with the comfort of familiar domestic spaces. Home Chef gains room to grow while protecting the generosity, experimentation, and togetherness that shape its brand—and employees see the work behind the product as part of everyday workplace life.
