Flack Global Metals’ West Loop office integrates trading, broadcasting, events, and hospitality within a compact footprint. IA turned steel from an industry reference into a working design system—using it for privacy, display, circulation, and storytelling—so the workplace demonstrates the company’s capabilities while supporting a remarkably broad program.

Steel Makes Capability Visible
Arrival opens into a lounge for employees, clients, recruits, and industry guests, with a flexible meeting room that supports town halls, cocktails, and events against the West Loop skyline. At the entrance, a perforated-steel screen radiates from Flack’s circular mark. Fabricated from material produced by one of the company’s businesses, it provides privacy, demonstrates manufacturing capability, and forms the backdrop for a custom broadcast desk used during company meetings and media appearances. The element therefore performs several roles at once: brand expression, product demonstration, acoustic and visual separation, and operational infrastructure within a footprint where every square foot must contribute.

“It is important that our space reflects the unique culture that drives our company. IA was very thoughtful in translating our brand’s innovation into a dynamic space that inspires both our team and those who visit our office.”
Founder & CEO, Flack

Compact Planning Expands the Program
Steel shelving recalls I-beams, portals frame movement, and artwork draws from fabrication. In the conference room, engraved totems record company milestones, placing institutional memory inside a setting designed for future decisions. The office can shift quickly from focused trading to broadcasting, recruiting, town halls, or hosted events without feeling overprogrammed. Moody materials and precise detailing create a sophisticated atmosphere, but every gesture remains tied to the business. Compactness becomes an advantage because it forces hospitality, identity, and function into a disciplined composition. IA gave Flack a workplace that operates at several scales while remaining direct, memorable, and unmistakably connected to metals.
