A temporary suite at One Paseo became a permanent Del Mar workplace for this financial services firm. IA reused key infrastructure, opened the plan to daylight, and translated the coastal setting into a restrained local identity—giving employees a more varied workday while aligning the first floor with the client-facing experience above.

Temporary Suite Takes Root

The Torrey Pine ecosystem, ocean landscape, and Spanish Revival architecture inform arches, layered textures, patterned tile, coastal neutrals, terracotta, and deep blue. These references create local resonance without turning the office into a seaside theme. Selective demolition and floor-to-ceiling glazing draw daylight deeper into the suite. Meeting and collaboration rooms line the perimeter to share views, while quieter focus settings sit farther within. The arrangement gives employees access to both collective and individual work without losing visual continuity. By transforming an interim footprint into a place with permanence and character, IA helped the firm make a more confident long-term investment in the location.

Reuse Advances Workplace Value

A hospitality-inspired café anchors the plan, with arches, an acoustic wood-slat ceiling, and layered light creating a warm everyday destination. Nearby huddle rooms, conference spaces, and open collaboration zones extend its usefulness beyond meals. Environmental graphics enlarge Torrey Pine needles, cones, and monarch butterflies into moments of discovery. Existing ceilings, baffles, and lighting infrastructure were retained where practical; photometric analysis and targeted upgrades ensured that reuse still delivered the required performance. The approach balanced capital discipline with employee experience, reducing unnecessary replacement while improving light, choice, and identity. The finished workplace feels rooted in Del Mar and aligned with the firm’s broader standards.
