Cambridge Associates’ Boston relocation turns hybrid work into a destination for people, clients, and recruits. IA replaced private offices and assigned seats with choice-rich neighborhoods, community hubs, and hospitality-led settings, using the top three floors of Winthrop Center to strengthen culture, support varied work, and advance the firm’s sustainability commitments.

Hybrid Work Gains Destination
Each floor is organized around a community hub, with neighborhoods arranged along three spokes that lead toward daylight and city views. Height-adjustable desks, library tables, focus pods, phone rooms, touchdown points, and technology-enabled collaboration areas support different tasks without assigning space by title. On the 25th floor, a double-height reception and interconnecting stair anchor client, recruiting, conference, and breakout functions. The workplace levels add a café sized for town halls and a library for quieter work. The mix gives employees a reliable reason to gather while allowing individuals and teams to choose settings that match the purpose of each visit.

"IA listened carefully to our strategic priorities with this space, helped us translate concepts into concrete thoughts, delivered creative and beautiful ideas to meet those needs, and implemented the project flawlessly to bring the vision to life...The design is compelling and exciting, while also feeling welcoming and comfortable, and was executed within our budget...Working with the IA team was a joy, and I would recommend them unreservedly to others.

Hospitality Supports Global Culture
The design translates Cambridge Associates’ global reach and boutique service into an environment that feels open, attentive, and personal. Broad views, daylight, and transparency energize shared areas; wood, rugs, and softer lighting bring warmth to spaces deeper within the plan. Hospitality informs how employees, clients, and recruits are welcomed without turning the office into a hotel. IA’s pre-lease analysis incorporated staff feedback and helped the firm evaluate multiple buildings before selecting Winthrop Center. Its LEED Platinum and WELL Gold credentials, efficient systems, enhanced filtration, and water testing support the firm’s path toward zero carbon and align real-estate decisions with long-term organizational values.
