Daikin’s Tukwila Design Center transforms the conventional HVAC showroom into an experience people can feel. Familiar residential settings place advanced air systems in everyday context, while materials inspired by the Pacific Northwest bring warmth and comfort. The result makes an invisible technology tangible, approachable, and easier to understand.

Performance, Made Familiar
Residential settings allow customers to experience Daikin systems in context rather than as isolated equipment. A preserved green wall and other biophilic elements bring calm, while warm timber, soft furnishings, and greenery connect technical performance to the character of the Pacific Northwest.

Digital brand moments and product displays reveal what is happening behind the scenes without competing with the experience itself. Information is available when needed; comfort and atmosphere lead.

Bringing this vision to life meant finding a way to make the invisible visible. HVAC systems typically operate behind the scenes, so we used storytelling and interactive displays to translate complex technology into something people could understand, engage with, and experience.” — Ron Singler, Creative Director

Degrees of Difference
The Hot and Cold Experience Room shifts from -4°F to 80°F, allowing guests to experience the range, efficiency, and versatility of Daikin systems firsthand. What can feel abstract in a specification becomes immediate through sensation.

Consumer-facing rooms sit alongside workplace functions, allowing customers, partners, and contractors to move naturally between demonstration, technical conversation, and relationship-building. IA tested multiple planning strategies to make those transitions clear and intuitive.

The Design Center turns education into direct experience. By embedding technology within recognizable environments, it makes complex systems easier to understand and their value easier to feel. Air—typically invisible—becomes one of the most memorable elements of the space.
