Inside McDonald’s Chicago headquarters, the Fan Store sits between Speedee Labs and Hamburger University—innovation on one side, learning on the other. The compact shop turns the anticipation of opening a McDonald’s bag into a playful, polished place to browse, gather, and take a piece of the brand home.
Inside the Iconic To-Go Bag
Packaging and dining rituals are abstracted into architecture. References to straws, cups, clamshells, and trays appear as fluting, form, pattern, and light—not as literal props. The nostalgia is immediate, yet the execution remains calibrated to the sophistication of the headquarters.
Familiar Details, Playfully Recast
A full-height glass storefront keeps the store visible from the workplace, while a large illuminated McDonald’s mark creates a clear threshold. A red band traces the perimeter and flexible fixtures allow merchandise to change with seasons, launches, and new collections.
The store is intuitive, but it rewards a closer look. Every detail holds a small recognition—the pleasure of finding something familiar in an unexpected place. More than an internal shop, it becomes a joyful bridge between McDonald’s history, its current work, and the global community that carries the brand forward.
