At Bloomingdale’s Tysons Corner, familiar brand cues become part of the architecture. Across women’s shoes, seasonal, and sunglasses, graphic identity shifts from ceiling to floor, shaping movement and connection between departments. A quieter layer of local storytelling grounds the experience in place while keeping Bloomingdale’s unmistakably at the center.
A Familiar Mark, Set in Motion
Bloomingdale’s iconic double “O” is abstracted, enlarged, and transformed into an architectural element. Moving across the ceiling, its geometry creates a visual rhythm that connects departments and expresses the brand without relying on conventional logo placement.
A crisp black band extends through the space, traveling overhead before reappearing as a fine inlay within the glossy white floor. Signage remains intentionally restrained. Instead, architecture helps people find their way, allowing merchandise, discovery, and personal service to stay at the center of the experience.

A Sense of Place
Behind fluted glass, a custom Scalamandré floral wallcovering changes with light and perspective. Its abstracted blossoms reference the peach orchards that once shaped the surrounding landscape, bringing local history into the experience without recreating it literally.
Throughout the departments, identity and function work together. Graphics orient. Pattern adds depth. Familiar brand elements shift in scale and purpose. Each move contributes to an environment designed to adapt as collections and seasons change.
The result is unmistakably Bloomingdale’s reimagined through movement, material, and place.
