Fauchon
New York, NY
Project Type
Boutique Bakery & Cafe
Sector
Hospitality, Consumer Product
For more than 140 years, Fauchon has been an icon of Parisian gastronomy, celebrated for its culinary artistry and unmistakable sense of occasion. For its first U.S. flagship, the opportunity was to translate that heritage into a distinctly New York experience, one that honors the brand’s origins while embracing the vibrant rhythm of Bryant Park.
A Layered Destination
Spanning 7,500 square feet, the flagship brings together the worlds of hospitality, gastronomy, and retail in a layered, immersive destination. Conceived as more than a traditional bakery-café, the space invites guests to engage with Fauchon on their own terms. A morning espresso and croissant might give way to a leisurely lunch, afternoon tea, or an evening gathering. Across these experiences, the design encourages exploration, creating a destination that reveals itself differently with every visit.
A Celebration of Culinary Craft
At the heart of the concept is a celebration of culinary craft. A demonstration and baking kitchen transforms preparation into performance, inviting guests behind the scenes through classes and hands-on experiences. A private dining room offers views into the working kitchen, bringing an intimate dimension to the culinary experience. The retail environment is equally adaptable, transitioning from everyday discovery to a setting for curated events, activations, and celebrations. Together, these interconnected spaces blur the boundaries between dining, shopping, and entertainment, positioning gastronomy as both an experience and a shared occasion.
Parisian Refinement, Manhattan Energy
The design language balances Parisian refinement with the energy of its Manhattan setting. Fauchon’s signature magenta punctuates a palette of champagne tones and warm woods, while architectural arches offer a contemporary interpretation of the brand’s storied Parisian cafés. Mirrors and custom murals establish a visual dialogue with Bryant Park, drawing the surrounding greenery and urban vitality into the interior. Patterned stone, chopped-marble mosaics, and sculptural blown-glass pendants introduce depth, texture, and character.
The result is a fresh expression of Fauchon’s heritage, sophisticated yet approachable, distinctly Parisian yet unmistakably New York. By weaving together culinary discovery, experiential retail, and social gathering, IA created a flagship that extends beyond the traditional café experience, establishing a new cultural and culinary destination for the brand and the city.
